Nick’s interest in photography started when he was around 12 years old after his parents purchased a digital camera for a trip to Hawaii. That camera was in Nick’s hands the whole trip — he took obscure, angled pictures of the beautiful landscapes throughout the islands.
Though photography caught his interest early, Nick started taking it seriously in his early 20s, snapping photos of whatever captured his eye for several years. He often found himself with someone else’s camera at family gatherings, with relatives urging him to get photos of everyone there.
Through his mid 20s, Nick improved his photography skills thanks to his first digital SLR purchase, a Canon 60D. Now an experienced photographer, Nick has made a name for himself among his peers: From capturing iconic landmarks and scenery around Northern California to getting live photos of local Sacramento musicians — and even working with landscape architects to showcase their work.
Nick Marquez looks at things differently. He sees the potential in people and subjects that many overlook thanks to a critical eye for architecture, portraits, landscapes and more. Nick finds the beauty in the ordinary everyday things and captures it, while challenging himself to become a better artist by learning more about his skill.
